Eva Rossi-Kivimäki creates wall panels and sculptures using mainly semi-precious stones and minerals, 24K gold leaf, freshwater pearls, cubic zirconia and glass. The materials give the artwork rich textures and three-dimensionality to the panels as well.
The subjects of Eva R-K’s work come from a life of constant change and adaptation. Through her art, she also reflects on universal truths in women’s lives.
Her artistic practice, which she calls “active meditation”, is also a tool for trying to find oneself that “is spread across four continents”.
Although much of Eva R-K’s art is dark to the eye, its message is one of optimism, growth and gratitude.
The Finnish artist currently lives and works in the Atlantic Forest region of Pindamonhangaba, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
The artist’s career so far.
Eva RK considers 1999 to be the year she became a professional artist, as she was commissioned to create the stained glass windows for the chapel at the official residence of the Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Miami, Florida.
Since 2001, she has had nine solo exhibitions in Finland and Brazil, participated in two-artist exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions in Europe, Japan, the USA and Brazil. Art fairs include Arte Padova, Nice Contemporary Art Fair, Clio Art Fair (New York) and the Roma Biennale, where she received fourth prize in the ‘installation’ category.
Eva R-K’s artworks have been acquired by private collections in Australia, Brazil, several European countries, Hong Kong, the USA and Saudi Arabia, as well as by the collection of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo.
